About Us

Something Ventured Equestrian is located at Flying K Farm in Joppa, Maryland. This beautiful facility provides us with miles of trails, a well-lit outdoor arena, and even a fire-pit to cozy up to while you watch riding lessons! This is truly the perfect set-up for our team, that with over 3o years of combined horse experience, is well equipped to handle the needs of each individual rider.

Rachael North, Instructor

Rachael grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and started riding and showing American Saddlebred horses at 7 years of age. She competed on a World level and continued following her passion to college at the University of Kentucky where she received degrees in Marketing and Equine Management. Rachael looks forward to sharing her diverse knowledge and experience in different disciplines with her students.

Notable Accomplishments:
-Member Saddleseat World Cup Equestrian Team 2004 (Gold)
-Alternate Member Saddleseat World Cup Equestrian Team 2002 & 2006 (Gold, Silver)
-Winner of 6 World’s Championships
-Winner 2 National Championships
-Member Equitana USA Mane Event

Kaitlyn Julio, Instructor

Kaitlyn Julio began riding at age 10 in the notorious Hereford Zone where she received a solid foundation in deep and balanced riding. She moved on to exercising sport horses and intermittently managing a private fox hunting barn while fox hunting¬† first field with Mt. Carmel Hounds and competing with Towson University’s Intercollegiate Equestrian Team. She now is working toward retraining and competing in jumpers and eventing on her thoroughbred while diversifying her knowledge across disciplines. Kaitlyn also has extensive experience with special needs and therapeutic lessons. She is currently working on and looking forward to becoming an active member with Special Olympics.
